OUR MISSION

The mission of the Barksdale Spouses' Club is to create a supportive, comfortable arena for our members to explore social connections, volunteerism, and educational opportunities.

OUR MEMBERSHIP

The Barksdale Spouses' Club strives for inclusivity and community empowerment. By becoming a member of Barksdale Spouses’ Club, you gain the most valuable asset anyone could have - a local network of support. BSC members are from all backgrounds with experience in all seasons of life.

OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of the Barksdale Spouses' Club is to organize and to sponsor social and charitable opportunities for its members. BSC does not discriminate in hiring practices or membership policies on the basis of age, race, religion, color, national origin, disability, ethnic group, or gender. The organization is organized in compliance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is organized in the furtherance of charitable and/or educational, civic, or patriotic purpose consistent with the Bylaws of the organization and section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or corresponding sections of any future federal tax code. The goal is to provide information of interest to its members and to foster ideals of fellowship and charity in keeping with those of the United States Armed Forces.

Who is eligible to join BSC?

Barksdale Spouses' Club memberships fall into four categories - active, associate, social, or honorary memberships.

ACTIVE membership: Those who are spouses of active duty members of the United States Armed Forces, spouses of members of the United States Forces Reserves or National Guard, spouses of active duty members of the Personnel Exchange Program assigned to the 8th Air Force, spouses of DoD civilians assigned to Barksdale Air Force Base, and spouses of students in the 11th Bomb Squadron FTU. This includes mil-to-mil spouses, too!
ASSOCIATE membership: Those who are widowed/widower spouses of members of the United States Armed Forces, spouses of retired members of the United States Armed Forces, and spouses of all active duty members MIA residing in the area.
SOCIAL membership: Those who are relatives who reside with Barksdale Spouses' Club members.
HONORARY membership: Those who are individuals of high moral character with an interest in the Barksdale Air Force Base community. An invitation to join is extended by the President with approval of the Executive Board.

What will I do as a member of BSC?

Quarterly socials are wonderful opportunities to make new friends and reconnect with old ones.
BSC Small Groups explore many interests, from crafting to movie nights to exploring local favorites!
Through volunteerism, Barksdale Spouses' Club seeks to create a lasting impact on our community, from raising funds for annual military-affiliated scholarships and teacher grants to meeting local needs by supporting causes that include veterans’ groups, hurricane relief efforts, and so much more!

What does it cost to be a BSC member?

Annual dues are $41.50 if paid online or at a social using an online platform. This covers monthly socials, minimal operational expenses, and credit card processing fees.

Prospective members may also submit a printed application at the next BSC social (no small group or community events) and pay with cash, cashier's check, money order, or personal check made to Barksdale Spouses' Club in the amount of $40 (less the card processing fees).
